BHAKTAPUR DURBAR SQUARE

The old city Bhaktapur is located in the eastern part of the Kathmandu Valley, also known as Bhadgaon or Khopo, Bhaktapur. It is regarded as the abode of traditional Nepalese culture, customs and the unique art of wood and utensils. The surrounding historical monuments reflect the culture of the Middle Ages and the traditions of Nepal, and this old city is inhabited by a large group of tribal Newari. The main attractions are the Natapola Temple, the statue of Raja Bhupathindra Mall, the peacock's lake, the Golden Gate and the fifty-fifty windows of Bhaktapur Durbar Square.
Major attractions of Bhaktapur Durbar Square
The Palace Mall of Fifty Windows was built in 1414 AD during the reign of King Yaksha Malla and it was rebuilt in the 6th century by King Bhupathindra Malla. Among the brick walls, with their lavish settings and sculptural designs, is a balcony of fifty windows, which is considered to be a unique piece of wooden artwork. It is also known as the oldest monument in Nepal.
